Heroic eliminate FaZe to secure semi

The Danes reach the semi-final as they aim for their first Major title.
HEROIC have eliminated FaZe in the first quarter-final of the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023 in a three-map barn burner (Nuke 16-14, Overpass 12-16, Mirage 16-6) to move on to the final four in Paris.
Martin "stavn" Lund joined the broadcast for a post-match interview, where he talked about his team’s resilience after losing the second map. “We’re just really good at resetting in general, and we know Mirage is a really strong map for us and we got to start CT, we’re always really happy with that. We were just feeling really confident, and we're definitely ready to go all the way,” he concluded after topping the server with a 1.20 rating.
With this quarter-final over, HEROIC are now waiting to play the winner of Monte versus GamerLegion in the semi-final. For FaZe, who had to battle from behind at both the RMR and the Legends Stage, this marks the end of their Major journey after some spirited performances.

FaZe got off to a hot start in the opening Nuke by going up 5-1 before HEROIC put up an impenetrable wall on the defense to win nine in a row and go into their offensive half 10-5 ahead. A pistol round put them 14-5 up and their win looked like a matter of when, not if. FaZe had other ideas, though, and a Robin "ropz" Kool-powered CT side meant they didn't go down lightly. They clawed their way to a 14-15 scoreline but lost out to a 2vs3 conversion by Jakob "jabbi" Nygaard and Casper "cadiaN" Møller to drop the map in regulation.
Next up was Overpass, and the map was a near replica of the first, with just the roles reversed. HEROIC got to a 4-3 lead before FaZe put down the hammer to take a 15-5 lead. With HEROIC this time tasked with a monumental comeback, they did their best and reached 12 before running out of steam, meaning a decider was needed.
The decider of Mirage was one-way traffic all the way through, as FaZe were unable to break through HEROIC's A defense and slumped to a 12-3 deficit at the half. The second half didn't go much better for them despite winning the pistol, with the Finn "karrigan" Andersen-lead team bowing out of the Major with a 6-16 loss.
The Danish IGL gave an honest review of their performances in a post-match interview. "I’m just proud of the guys today, like give a hand to them, they were fighting so hard to comeback and perform here on the stage… I think after we won the Grand Slam, we haven’t found the same confidence and the same game,” he said after their exit.
